MRI Fusion Prostate Biopsy

Targeted prostate sampling guided by MRI — precision where older biopsies relied on chance.

What it is

A targeted biopsy, not a blind one.

When a prostate biopsy is needed — often after an elevated PSA or an abnormal exam — how it is performed matters. Traditional biopsies sampled the prostate in a systematic but essentially blind pattern, which could miss significant tumors or over-sample unimportant tissue.

An MRI fusion biopsy is different. A detailed prostate MRI is performed first to identify any suspicious areas. During the biopsy, that MRI is fused with live ultrasound, letting the urologist target the specific regions of concern directly.

The result is a more accurate biopsy: better at finding clinically significant cancer, and better at avoiding the over-diagnosis of disease that never needed treatment. It supports smarter decisions — including active surveillance when that is the right path.

Why precision matters

The right biopsy informs the right decision.

Not every prostate cancer needs aggressive treatment — but knowing which does requires an accurate biopsy. MRI fusion gives that accuracy, supporting confident decisions including active surveillance.
